Scottish winger commits his future to the Cherries

AFC Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with the club.

The popular Scotsman, who first joined the Cherries back in 2013 from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, will now remain at Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2020.

Fraser was born in Aberdeen and was a product of the Scottish club’s youth system. He made 23 appearances for The Dons before moving south of the border to join AFC Bournemouth in January 2013.

The winger helped the Cherries win promotion from League One at the end of that season, and followed that up by lifting the 2014/15 Championship title.

Fraser, 22, has made his mark in the Premier League this campaign, scoring three goals and making 13 top flight appearances.

“Ryan has made huge strides in his development this season,” said manager Eddie Howe. “He has had to be patient for a regular opportunity here and the next step was to produce performances on a consistent basis. We are seeing that from him now.

“Ryan deserves all the accolades he has received and hopefully there are many more to come. I see a really bright future for him.”

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake added: “I am delighted that Ryan has put pen to paper on a new contract.

“He has been a very important player for the team this season, especially in the last couple of months, and has proved he is capable of playing at the highest level.

“We believe in producing and developing young, British talent and look forward to seeing Ryan continue to improve in an AFC Bournemouth shirt.”
