A private hospital in Bournemouth is planning on relocating to Talbot Village.
Nuffield Health‘s Bournemouth hospital is currently situated close to the town centre on Lansdowne Road. The new hospital could be built as ‘key anchor occupier’ in contentious plans to transform farmland in Poole.
This development is dedicated to the creative and digital industries on the land at Highmoor Farm. Due to limited capacity of the current hospital, Nuffield Health has confirmed to exchange contracts with Talbot Village Trust.
With this location, Bournemouth University students will have another option to choose which GP they would like to join as Talbot Village GP is the only hospital around the campus.
Omuwa Ayomaya, a SUBU representative, said: “I feel like one most important thing that will benefit people is the speed at which you will get an appointment, how cheap it will be and more beneficial as it’s close to the University.
“We do have a lot of halls with students that would love to get an appointment with the GP.
“To get another hospital around campus will release the pressure from the only GP we have around.
“This opportunity will also create jobs for students in campus and that’s what we aiming to achieve. More job opportunity for students.”
The hospital specialises in cardio services, endoscopy, robot arm assisted surgery, private GP services and fertility treatment. Nuffield Health will undertake a full consultation with their stakeholders and patients once they decide on when the movement will take place.
