The Cherries beat Southampton U23’s 1-0 in a closely contested encounter.
Euan Pollock scored in the first half to put Bournemouth ahead against their South Coast rivals.
It was in the tenth minute that Pollock found the net, which was his third goal in the competition.
Jake Scrimshaw nearly doubled the Cherries lead in the final stages, but a clearance ensured the game ended 1-0.
Saints dominated the possession and tested Cherries goalkeeper Camis several times, but the 16 year old remained collected between the sticks and a good defensive display ensured that the three points returned to the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries will face Southampton again in the reverse fixture at Vitality next month, as they look to qualify for the last 16 of the tournament.
They had previously qualified on their last attempt, but the season was cut short owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cherries are currently 3rd in their group, four points behind West Midlands club West Bromwich Albion.
They will have to win their next game against Southampton at Vitality, with West Brom dropping points to Arsenal to ensure their qualification is secured.
