New poll suggests third of consumers to return Christmas gifts

January 25, 2023 //  by Henry Bryant

The research company Opinium surveyed 2,000 UK adults last week, revealing these statistics on gifts being sold.

Almost a third of shoppers plan to return Christmas presents from donating, re-gifting or selling them.

The value of all gifts to be returned is considered to be worth £232 million, the poll suggests.

More than half (54%) the people in this survey admitted they wouldn’t tell the ‘gifter’ they were returning too.

The cost-of-living crisis wasn’t the only reason for returns, but was the main reason for a fifth of poll participants.
