A Bournemouth-based charity is fundraising for Children In Need by donating it’s profits from a three-day cake sale.

Bournemouth Gateway Club has organised a cake sale over Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to members of the community group.

The club will be selling a mixture of home-baked goods and shop-bought sweet treats costing only 50p each.

Sam Lamb, mum of two and senior support leader at Bournemouth Gateway Club, said: “Last year’s charity bake sale was such a success that we try and do them as much as possible.

“It’s even better that all the money we raise will be going to such an important charity like Children in Need.”

At last year’s Children in Need bake sale, Bournemouth Gateway Club raised £66.23.

In 2023, a staggering 403,000 children were classified as “in need”, a slight decrease compared with 2022.

However, the number of children in need is significantly higher than 2020, which mostly pre-dates the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bournemouth Gateway Club is a social and leisure community for adults with learning and related disabilities.

As well as the cake sale, members are are showing their support for Children in Need by hosting a Pudsey-themed disco this Saturday.

It is free to attend and all members are encouraged to dress up for the cause.

Anna Reeves, service manager of Bournemouth Gateway Club, said: “Children in Need is such a fun way for our community to come together and support another charity. Everybody loves Pudsey.”
