Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has announced its decision to forgo plans to invest £450m into expanding a vaccine manufacturing plant in Merseyside, blaming a reduction in support in comparison to the previous government.
“The timing and reduction of the final offer compared to the previous government’s proposal,”
This comes just two days after Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ plan to go “further and faster” to boost economic growth was set out.
AstraZeneca said tat the site will continue to produce and supply flu vaccines for patients in the UK and “around the world.” They also stated that no current jobs at the site would be affected.
