Bumps, births and babies: the phobia

December 12, 2018 //  by Heidi Quinn//  Leave a Comment

How does it make you feel to hear a baby cry? Concerned, broody?

For tokophobics this noise can bring on a panic attack, uncontrollable shaking or a need to flee the scene.

Tokophobia is a fear of pregnancy, childbirth and all that goes along with it. It is derived from the Greek ‘toko’ (childbirth) and ‘phobos’ (fear).

My documentary aims to shed a light on what it’s like living with this phobia and to educate audiences on a condition that even some experts are a little fuzzy on.
