Bournemouth’s famous Christmas Market in the town square has begun to take shape today, in the last week of October.
The ice rink has begun to be assembled and trucks have moved in as the Alpine Lodge and many of the market stalls will soon be built.
This is the third year of a five year contract the company, Seventa Events, has with the BCP council and the market will officially open on the 15th November.
Hettie Fairhall, one of the event managers working year round on the market, explained that £3million was made over the 7 weeks last year and with more people expected to return that number is set to be beat this time around.
With a variety of entertainment including choirs, karaoke, quiz nights and school concerts there should be something for everyone to enjoy over the christmas period.
Although 80 is the official number for the amount of jobs created from the market, with all the stall staff, construction workers and those in the offices behind the scenes that figure will actually be much higher.
Hettie explained that this year
“the number of local traders is higher than ever, a fact we are incredibly proud of.”
